Media Planner (Part-Time)


Our clients must deploy marketing resources prudently and effectively. One of our key responsibilities is to help them determine the optimal communication channels for campaigns and programs to meet their marketing objectives. We also must monitor and measure campaigns to ensure their effectiveness.

You will have the opportunity to develop and synthesize print and digital trade media recommendations for client programs. You will also be responsible for measuring, reporting, and analyzing results. 

Job Responsibility #1 – Trade media strategy development

  • Conduct market research and analyze demographics, media usage, psychographic, and buying patterns to define the target audience and campaign requirements.
  • Develop advertising strategies and campaigns with marketing teams to reach the desired audience most effectively.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and launch of campaigns.
  • Negotiate with advertising sales agents to ensure the most cost-effective deal structure.
  • Manage budgets and monitor campaign costs and ROI metrics.
  • Monitor audience and media trends, practices, and new technologies.
  • Meet with clients to define and understand campaign and program objectives.
  • Interact with trade media representatives to research, predict and estimate efficacy of digital and print media options against client objectives, including content promotion programs and other demand generation options. 
  • Interact closely with digital marketing, public relations, social media, and other team members to optimize trade media opportunities within the context of broader, multi-channel media strategies.  
  • Work together with team members to compile and present recommendations to clients.
  • Generate insertion orders, reconciles media invoices. 

Job Responsibility #2 – Measuring, analyzing, and reporting

  • Collect campaign performance data from relevant sources. This includes routine, proactive requests from trade/online media outlets as relevant to client programs.
  • Coordinate measurement and reporting activity with other team members as part of agency’s over-arching approach to results reporting and analysis.
  • Analyze results, highlight, and explain significance of important metrics; offer and summarize recommendations.
  • Track and present campaign data such as views, click-throughs rates, engagements, and customer conversion rates.
  • Source and present audience data and advertising proposals to clients for feedback.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum five years’ experience engaging with trade publications (digital and print) and other online media to develop paid media proposals.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a media buyer or similar.
  • Sufficient knowledge and understanding of contemporary B2B media channels (online search, social media, public relations, etc.) to engage with other team members for context when evaluating and defending recommendations.
  • Demand generation experience.
  • B2B marketing orientation – client- or agency-side.
  • Strong computer skills with programs such as MS Office, Google Suite, and Facebook Business Manager.
  • Excellent financial skills and the ability to manage large budgets.
